For my project I chose to do a photo trailer for Saving Private Ryan.
I have the DVD, So I went to the studio and tried capturing footage from from the DVD. the only problem was that it didn't capture audio, which didn't matter.
I took the footage in Premiere and went through it and looked at the script that I had from last semester, and exported each frame from the video. For some reason when I took it into after Effects some of the pictures looked fuzzy, but it kinda added a cool effect to make the pictures look old.
The purpose of the trailer is to cause emotion and make a person feel the pain of war. So I tried not to do too much effects to the pictures. For some of the battle scenes I did more to add stress. When there was an explosion I took the scale and pulled it in and out to give the picture a rattling effect.
I did a lot of fading and work with the opacity. Like with the letter from war going over the dead soldiers and the mother of the Ryan brothers.
Although I didnt get to capture the end of the video, I had to get some pictures of Matt Damons character off the internet. I didn't follow the script all the way through though. I felt like I had so much trouble with the computer. I saved my after effects file, and for some reason I couldn't open it up later, like 20 minutes later. So, I tried to do the best that I could. I basically was rushed to finish it. I did want to have text and some kind of narration, but I was in a time crunch.
